Common questions
Here are the questions Rockland County pet parents ask us most often. Don't see what you're looking for? Send us a message โ we're happy to help.
Do dogs need a meet and greet?
Yes โ a meet and greet is the starting point for every relationship with House of Paws. It lets us understand your dog's temperament and needs, and lets you see the environment before scheduling daycare or boarding.
What vaccinations do you require?
We require dogs to be current on rabies, distemper/parvo (DHPP), and Bordetella (kennel cough). For dogs joining our boarding program, we also recommend canine influenza. Bring vaccination records to your meet and greet.
What should I bring for boarding?
Bring your dog's regular food in pre-measured portions, feeding instructions, any medications with clear instructions, an emergency contact number, your vet's contact information, and a familiar comfort item (bed, blanket, or toy).
Do you accept last-minute requests?
Last-minute requests may be possible when space and scheduling allow, but holidays and weekends book early. Please contact us as soon as you know your dates โ even a few days in advance is helpful.
Where will my dog sleep?
Dogs sleep in our home in comfortable beds in shared family living spaces โ not in cages or kennel runs. Some dogs like to be near people; others prefer a quiet corner. We learn your dog's preferences during the meet and greet.
Are rates listed online?
Yes โ see our boarding rates and daycare rates pages for current pricing. Final pricing can depend on the dates, services, and any special care your dog needs.
Do you take dogs of all sizes?
We work with most sizes and breeds, but every dog needs to pass the meet and greet. Dogs that are highly reactive, severely anxious in new environments, or unable to coexist with other dogs may not be a good fit for our home setting.
What happens if my dog has a medical emergency?
We have emergency procedures in place and established relationships with local Rockland County vets. We will contact you immediately and your designated emergency contact if you cannot be reached.
Do you offer pickup and drop-off?
We're primarily a drop-off based service. In some cases we can help arrange local transportation for an additional fee โ please ask during your meet and greet.
Where are you located?
House of Paws is located at 5 Forest Brook Road, Nanuet, NY 10954. We serve families throughout Rockland County, including New City, Nyack, Pearl River, Spring Valley, Bardonia, and West Nyack.
How do I make a reservation?
Call us at (845) 402-6005, email [email protected], or use the contact form. Once you've completed a meet and greet, we'll work out a schedule that fits your dog's needs.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellation timelines vary by service โ see our daycare and boarding cancellation pages for current details. We try to be flexible, especially when dogs are sick or plans change unexpectedly.
